I pour my soul into my paintings to see the very essence of my nature.

I was born in New York City and studied fine arts at Art and Design High School and Parson’s School of Design. As an artist, I put aside my passion for art and painting to become a Graphic Designer and an Interior Designer. Now that I am retired, my full attention to art has returned.

Within a short period of time, I have produced portraits, still life, and landscapes. My paintings reflect the romanticism of old master techniques from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Each painting uses lights and darks to emphasis the subject’s strength and vulnerability.

When I begin painting, I find the scale and proportions of my subject, then, apply a broad under painting of color to capture the desired hue and value. I gradually build and refine the details around the subject looking for nuances to create a seamless painting. Most of my work uses elements of naturalism and romanticism blending techniques from the past to create surrealistic paintings and drawings.

I have received peer recognition and juried awards for the past 5 years and an award recognition of merit from the 29th Annual International Exhibition for the Colored Pencil Society of America for my drawing of a swordbill hummingbird in motion. There were over 632 entries of which 120 were selected.

ABOUT CLAIR – THE PORTRAIT

Serenity, peace, innocence…”Through the Eyes of Clair” represents a delightful moment in time, our time, captured for generations of public viewing.  As you view Clair, my intent was to provoke deep thought and ponder her future. Does she calm you, does her purity move you? Where is she headed? What burdens, mistakes, and experiences will Clair bear as she matures during these challenging times?  It’s up to our society to guide her, to help all children carry the lightness they contain now into adulthood.

We have always been a nation of dreamers, with unlimited horizons and hope for each child we bring into this world. Anxious to explore, curious by nature, willing to experiment and delighted in the journey.
